While Ebola was spreading in a region largely lacking radio, TV stations or newspapers, a new "local news" distribution was developed.
Problem:
- Lacking electricity and adjunctive communicative devices (radio, TV, newspapers), rural Leoneans knew little about the Ebola epidemic.
- Information is essential for protection during spread of this viral infection.
Solution:
- The foundation provided up-to-date information (for Bumpe Town residents) on spread, infections and deaths on a public notice board, by megaphone (7am daily) and on printed handouts.
Impact:
- Local residents with access to these resources were kept informed on progress in control of Ebola spread and could appreciate importance of health (Ebola) education.
